CHARACTER NAME: Samuel T Anders ('Longshot') FANDOM: Battlestar Galactica (reimagined series) AGE: this life- 38. In reality he's over two thousand years old. ALIGNMENT (GOOD, EVIL, NEUTRAL): Neutral SKILLS/POWERS/SPECIAL ABILITIES: (in your own words) As a human- a skilled Pyramid player and a trained Viper pilot As a Cylon- he can project 'dreams' and images to a vivid degree, creating an entirely real world in his mind that other Cylons can join him in. He can program himself to not require sleep. He is stronger and more resilient than a human, and while will catch human diseases will recover from them without medication. Despite being a machine, Cylons are capable of feeling the full range of emotions.
BRIEF BACKGROUND SUMMARY: (in your own words, NOT a wiki entry)
Sam was born (or so he thought) on Picon, one of the 12 human colonies. There he has a fairly normal childhood, attending the Noyce Elementary school and developing into a superb Pyramid player, eventually playing for the Caprica Buccaneers. It was while he was leading his team on some high altitude training that the Cylons, unheard from in over 40 years, attacked the colonies, wiping out all but a handful of humans. Sam quickly used his leadership skills to rally those left behind into a tough band of rebels, fighting the Cylons where they could and surviving against all the odds.
After some months he met Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, and helped her escape a Cylon breeding farm. While her ship was only big enough to take herself, Helo and the humanoid Cylon rebel, Sharon back to Galactica and the Fleet, she left her dogtags with Sam, along with a promise to return for him and his people.
While it took some time for her to fulfill her promise, she eventually did, rescuing the survivors of Caprica. Sam had no interest in military life and was among the first to agree to settle on the first survivable planet the fleet found, called New Caprica. There he and Starbuck got married. However, the Cylons found them and quickly took over, their version of 'co-existing' in reality meaning slavery. Sam found himself once again on the front lines of a rebellion, along with Colonel Tigh and Chief Engineer Tyrol. With Starbuck held hostage by the Cylons, Sam lived for months not knowing if his wife was alive as he fought back, killing as many Cylons as he could until the rest of the fleet returned and once again the humans fled the Cylons.
Once they were back in space, Sam tried to reconnect with Starbuck, something he found increasingly difficult. He even trained to be a Viper pilot to try to get her attention, gaining the callsign "Longshot". But still she remained disturbed, eventually going on what appeared to be a suicide mission, leaving him devastated at her 'death'.
He was just on the verge of recovering when he heard a strange music in his head, one that no one else seemed to hear. It drew him to a cargo hold, where he met Tigh, Tyrol and Tori, the President's advisor. It was then they realised the truth. Their lives had been a programmed lie, they were 4 members of what the Cylons called the "Final Five." They were Cylons.
For months they lived in secret, terrified that they would be thrown out of an airlock if they were found out. Upon Kara's 'miraculous' return from the dead, Sam went with her, against the advice of his other Cylons, on a fool's hunt for Earth. They found instead a single Leoben, a model obsessed with Kara, who led them to a group of other Cylons. Unknown to the human Fleet, the Cylons had descended into civil war-the Cavils, the Dorals and the Simons against the Leobens, the Sixes and the Sharons (with the exception of the Boomer Sharon model who did what no other Cylon had ever done before and went against her kind to join with Cavil.) The rebel Cylons wanted to bring back the D'Anna model and live in peace with the humans. Starbuck and Leoben agreed to bring back D'Anna since she knew the identity of the Final Five who would supposedly know the way to Earth. During this mission many rebelled against Starbuck's command, causing Sam to shoot Felix Gaeta in the leg. Because of a delay in getting back to Galactica, Gaeta had the leg amputated.
D'Anna refused to give up the identities easily, trying to play the human Fleet into giving the Cylons more. Frustrated, and still loyal to Adama, Tigh gave up the information himself, exposing himself and his three friends. While Tory escaped to the Cylon ship, Sam and Tyrol used their last moments of freedom to examine the Viper Starbuck had reappeared in, which seemed to be projecting the same song that had triggered them. As the guards came to drag them away, revealing to a shocked Starbuck what her husband really was, Sam begged her to look again at the Viper as the answers for all of them were there. Tigh, Tyrol and Sam were loaded into the airlock by Lee Adama, who Starbuck had been having an affair with, as he tried to threaten D'Anna. BEfore he could execute them, Starbuck stopped him, telling him that they had shown her the way to Earth.
The humans and the rebel Cylons went together to the planet, which turned out to have been devestated by a nuclear war. The words of Leoben seemed very relevant. "All this has happened before, all this will happen again." It turned out the humans had started it the first time around, unleashing nuclear weapons on the original Cylons. The final Four began to have flashes of memories from their old lives, flashes that made no sense, which included the revelation that Ellen Tigh, Tigh's dead wife, was the Final Cylon.
With Earth uninhabitable, the Fleet moved on, completely demoralized. Gaeta, still angry over his leg, led a mutiny with the help of Tom Zarek, the Vice President. While this was beaten back by Adama, Sam was shot in the back of the head. Miraculously he survived, and remembered everything. All two thousand years of his history. He tried to tell as much of it as he could, how the Final Five had travelled from Earth to the Colonies to see the second generation of Cylons fighting the humans. How they had persuaded the Cylons to withdraw in return for giving them the lost secrets of Ressurection. How they'd tried to end the cycle of violence until Cavil executed all but their last bodies and sent them to the Colonies with no memories of their true selves.
There was more he had to tell, but he vitally needed the surgery to remove the bullet. He was left in a coma. Gradually his brain rebooted itself and he was left with all the knowledge of the Cylon race.
IN GAME HISTORY
Sam arrived post series, but only remembering until the moment he discovered his true nature. Terrified about what people might think, he hid the truth about himself as much as he could. He got a job as a bartender at the Lux and wanted to live as quietly as possible. However, the powers of Gabriel Gray allowed him to see how Sam really worked and was the first to see what he really was. The truth was also discovered by Cameron (a fellow cyborg) and Mirta Gev, who Sam fell in love with.
(note: it was meant to have also been found out by Peter Petrelli as part of Sam discovering more about what he was, however, that thread was never tagged and as such I am handwaving that it didn't happen as it would have been a major part of Sam's character development)

So this Tabitha chick has turned up.... and she looks like my wife. Like, exactly like my wife. Except she claims she's not a Cylon. Claims to not know what a Cylon is.
It's possible she's a sleeper agent and genuinely doesn't know (Plus would explain a lot about Kara...)
I don't know what any of this means.
I'm going to go and meet her. This is possibly a frakking bad plan. | | Tuesday, August 12th, 2008 | | 12:05 am |
